3. **Failure Forensics**: Companies need dedicated teams who understand not just how AI works, but how it breaks. This is different from ML engineers or prompt designers.
The Cost of Waiting vs. The Cost of Rushing
The companies that "get it" are moving slower but building foundations. They're:
- Creating AI governance boards with real authority
- Building monitoring systems before deploying models
- Training incident response teams
- Establishing clear chains of responsibility
Meanwhile, the companies rushing to deploy are creating time bombs. They're accumulating unknown risks faster than they can identify them.
Here's the uncomfortable truth: Most enterprises would be better off freezing their AI deployments for six months while they build proper governance infrastructure. Yes, they might fall "behind" in the short term. But they'll avoid the spectacular failures we're about to see from companies that rushed in.
